Beach & Water Access
Did you know, the Town of Oak Island offers more Beach & Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) access locations than any other coastal community in North Carolina
Mostly spread across the island, but also in the mainland portions of the Town are:
- 65 Public Beach Access Locations
- 79 Shared Access Pathways
- 40 Nature Viewing or ICW Fishing locations
- 6 Boat and / or Kayak Launch areas
- 4 Fishing Tees / Crab Dock
Many of these areas are handicap accessible; and others offering amenities such as restrooms, water fountains, and rinsing stations. This is important, because offering designated access locations helps protect the Town's most vital resource, the SAND DUNES! NOTE: Walking, running, playing, climbing, or any other traffic of any kind on, or across the sand dunes and berms, except in designated access areas is PROHIBITED.
